The Sunday Reset: A Seven-Day Routine That Fixes Your Betting Without Changing a Single Pick

Here's a question that stings: do you know your actual record by bet type? Not your overall record. Not your vibe. Your real, documented win rate on spreads versus totals versus moneylines, at what stake sizes, in which sports.

If the answer is no, you don't have a handicapping problem. You have a process problem — and no amount of hot takes is fixing it.

The good news: the fix isn't genius. It's routine. Here's a seven-day structure that turns chaotic betting into a repeatable operation.

Sunday: Close the Books

Sunday night, before you collapse, spend 15 minutes closing out the week. Update your bet log with results, but don't just record wins and losses. Record the closing line for every bet you made.

Why? Because your record lies to you. A 4-2 week against bad numbers is a losing week in disguise. A 2-4 week where you beat the close every time is a winner waiting to happen. The closing line doesn't care about your feelings — track it anyway.

Monday: The Uncomfortable Audit

Monday is review day. Open the log and look for patterns, not results:

Ten minutes of honest auditing beats ten hours of handicapping. Every time.

Tuesday: Silent Day

No bets Tuesday. Not because Tuesday games are bad — because a mandatory day off breaks the compulsion to have action running at all times.

Bettors who churn bankrolls almost always share one trait: they can't tolerate an empty slate. Tuesday teaches your brain that no bet is a perfectly valid position. Use the day to read line movement from the weekend instead. Where did numbers move sharply? What closed versus where it opened? You're building market intuition, not placing tickets.

Wednesday: Research Block One

Midweek is when lines for the weekend are often at their softest — books have posted early numbers, sharp money hasn't fully arrived, and the public hasn't shown up yet.

Block 60-90 minutes. Not scrolling. Structured research: injury reports, scheduling spots, rest differentials. Write down your early leanings with prices. A lean without a number attached is just a feeling.

Thursday: Research Block Two and Targets

Compare your Wednesday notes to the current market. Anything that's already moved toward your lean? The value's gone — cross it off. Anything that hasn't moved despite your reasoning? That's your watchlist.

Set specific trigger conditions: "I bet this if I get -105 or better." Pre-committing to prices removes the single worst decision in betting — the impulse click at 11:58 p.m.

Friday and Saturday: Execute, Don't Improvise

Bet your list, at your prices, at your stake sizes. If the price never comes, you don't bet. That's not a missed opportunity; that's the system working.

One rule above all: no bets outside the plan. A random Saturday afternoon teaser you talked yourself into doesn't just cost the stake — it contaminates your data. You can't audit a log full of exceptions.

Why This Actually Works

Notice what this routine never asks you to do: predict games better. That's deliberate.

The 95% of bettors who lose aren't losing because they can't pick winners. They're losing because they bet too often, at bad prices, at inconsistent stakes, with no record of any of it. Process doesn't require you to be smarter than the market — it requires you to be more disciplined than your own impulses.

Start this Sunday. Fifteen minutes, one spreadsheet, seven days. Your picks might not improve. Your results almost certainly will — because for the first time, you'll actually know what they are.
